For Children:

Hygiene

Go by example! Do it right this time! Getting used to regular dental hygiene, i.e. brush teeth after every meal if possible. Children should use children toothbrushes or electric toothbrushes (soft bristles and a small brush circumference).

Fluoridation

Children should use Fluoridated toothpaste which have 0.025% fluoride. Children ages 5 and more who can spit out well can use a conventional fluorine toothpaste (0, 1 – 0, 15% fluoride). Clean 3 times daily with mouthwash (0.02 to 0.03% fluorides).

Food

Cook with fluoride salt. Sweets in between enjoying after dinner and before brushing instead prefer and tooth-friendly products.

Furthermore, get used to your child to the atmosphere in the dental practice: Take it with you to your own control.

 

Youth and adults:

Hygiene

Apply color tablet test to visualize the remaining dental plaque, daily correct and effective dental care interdental spaces floss or with other components from time to time. Switch Toothbrush in every 6 – 8 weeks. Brush appropriately after every meal if possible, at least 2x daily.

Fluoridation

Use Fluoridated toothpaste containing 0,1 to 0,15% fluoride and 1x per week Fluoride gel with 1.25% fluoride brush in (caries risk patients: 2 – 3 times per week) or daily rinse with mouthwash (0.02 to 0.03% fluoride).

Food

No cleaning teeth according acidic meals. Yogurt, fruit, vegetables and fruit juices contain acids that attack the tooth. Immediate cleaning wears off too much tooth structure. Therefore: 30 – 45 minute wait until the saliva has neutralized the acidity again. 1 to 2 liters of mineral water per day to drink (avoid sugary drinks). A balanced vitamin-rich and energizing diet consists of:

  • Whole grains
  • Pasta
  • Rice
  • Corn
  • Potatoes
  • Legumes
  • Raw and cooked vegetables
  • Fruits
  • Fish
  • Lean meat
  • Little eggs
  • Milk and milk products

Eating too much chocolate and candy can be very harmful. Not the quantity of sugar, but the frequency of consumption is crucial to the development of dental caries. Avoid sweet and sticky snacks (Careful with dried fruit and cereal bars). Prefer tooth friendly products.

Regular inspections and professional dental cleanings at the dental hygienist comply. For braces wearers a thorough cleaning and the use of Fluoride gel or mouthwashes are particularly important.

 

Seniors:

Hygiene

So, wait for 30 – 45 minutes until the saliva has neutralized the acidity again. Drink sufficiently (Careful with sugary drinks!)

Consult with the hygienist and dentist regularly. Your hygienists will all preventive measures and the necessary number of professional dental cleanings together with you – (1 to 4x per year). It gives you instructions for denture cleaning and prosthetic care.
